The reference for this was only taken just a month or 2 ago, one afternoon as I walked down from my house and thought I hadn't ever gone up that pathway, and holey moley am I glad I went to check it out. If you're familiar with my work you would have noticed my paintings nearly always have foliage framing the focus of work and this outlook had the holy grail for me, an interesting pandanus tree, spinifex lining the path and beautiful wildly growing banksia all squeezed into one perfect composition.

Description
"Spinifex" was originally meant for the Greenhouse Interiors Art Prize, and in typical fashion for me, I was going to smack it out in a day and see what I ended up with. But I decided against that as I just didn't think I would be able to do the painting the justice it deserved.
So I took my time over 3 weeks and absolutely hyper fixated on this panoramic piece. I lost track of the hours after the second 11hr audiobook ran its course while I was in the rabbit hole of the spinifex grass.

Top it off with one of the first bright sunsets of the season and a calm afternoon swell that had a light warm breeze lapping at the shores, my goodness what a treat.
